Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog. If you can figure out how to publicize a blog so more people see it, I’d happily take any hints you have to offer!
Meanwhile, my photos do get lots of comments and awards when I post them on my Flickr stream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/victoriaporter/ but I’m relatively new to the blogosphere and not very good at self-promotion. HA!
I do so enjoy your blog even though I don’t comment that frequently. And now I must dash because NCIS (the original) is on and I dearly LOVE Mark Harmon and crew!
I just wanted to say that yours is the only “photo blog” I follow. As a non-photographer, I visit your blog simply to admire your work…not with an eye for technique or whatever (I finally went and looked up “bokah” though, just so I would know what the heck it was that everyone here was talking about! LOL!).
Your photographs are stunning, always. This one is no exception.
It’s one of my favorute too !
I really enjoy your background,
with it you can really enjoy the colors and the details of your …lovely dalhia
Bien à toi !
Dahlias are a wonder. They have always been beautiful but now they are breeding varieties that are hardier and have stronger stems so that they can be used more easily in floral arrangements. Wouldn’t an all-dahlia wedding bouquet be gorgeous?
Every time I hear the word dahlia, I’m reminded of the book or the movie Black Dahlia (Brian De Palma) based upon the story. It’s a true crime classic.
You have a wonderful blog and this picture is truly awesome. Thanks for your comments on my blog. I am glad that you found it, as it gives me a chance to follow yours
This sure looks more like a zinnia to me. I have never seen dahlias like this. But the shots are incredibly gorgeous, whatever they are. And yes, the lilies tried to jump into the camera. Wow is all I can say. God bless flowers and photoshop.
Maybe it is a zinnia! If so that’s fine because both zinnias and dahlias are in the Asteraceae family. I used Elements to boost the color, but the bokeh is pure 50mm shot at f 2.2
Came back to look again (didn’t compliment this fine photo when I left my earlier rambling comment) and tell you how lovely this is! Simply gorgeous and it inspires me to try for similar shots in spring/summer when my garden blooms!
Hi Kala,
a gorgeous gorgeous shot – such clarity and rich colour – truly exquisite.
I see some people have already commented on what flower it is – it’s definitely a zinnia, although I can understand the mix up as you also get a dahlia that is not too compact and looks similar!!!
